Do I need to run my 50/50 cotton/polyester or 100 percent polyester garments through the dryer prior to printing?

This is not so much a question as it is a procedure that many decorators employ to deter dye migration. The theory is that by running your 100 percent polyester garments or poly blends through the dryer prior to printing, you can burn off any excessive residual dyes, and they float out the dryer exhaust.

Why do my plastisol inks change during my run?

Why do my plastisol inks change during my run?

Overflashing is one of the most commonly misused practices in textile printing. Depending on platen, dwell, and flash temperatures, your inks can transform into a gummy mess or drop low in viscosity, which makes quality control unpredictable. The purpose of flashing is to gel the top layer until it is touch dry.

How can I protect and clean platens for a longer heat press life?

How can I protect and clean platens for a longer heat press life?

Nothing lasts forever, but the better you take care of your heat press, the longer you avoid a breakdown. Be sure to regularly and thoroughly clean the upper and the lower platens. They should be kept free of dust and dirt as well as adhesive residue and ink.

How can I achieve a soft hand yet stretchy, durable prints on nylon/Lycra and cotton/Lycra fabrics?

One of the best features of nylon/Lycra and cotton/Lycra fabrics is their lack of polyester. This prevents them from bleeding dye into the ink films during the cure process.
