A-to-Z of Printing: Print on Outdoor Signs and Banners

Outdoor signage is still one of the most effective ways to advertise a company, product, store, event or sales promotion. The effectiveness of outdoor signage is supported by data results from a popular FedEx survey*, revealing that 76% of people enter a store or business based on its sign, and 60% of the public are deterred from entering a store or business if it doesn’t have a quality sign.

King of the Castle

King of the Castle

What would life in the US look like if World War II had ended differently? That question sets the stage for Amazon’s streaming series “The Man in the High Castle,” which will air its third season in October. Based on a book of the same name by Philip K. Dick, the show explores America in the 1960s with the Axis in power. The series’ production designer called upon SagaBoy Productions to craft signage and graphics to transport viewers to an alternate reality.

A Designer’s Guide to ADA Sign Compliance

If you’re designing signs and graphics that identify a room or space in hotels, restaurants, offices, schools and other buildings, there are strict ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) rules and regulations to ensure correct building compliancy.

Checking Out the Screen Scene

Checking Out the Screen Scene

Screen printing has been around for ages and ages. For years in the signage industry, screen printing was the go-to technology for oversized printing, and especially for high-volume jobs. But screen printing seems to have fallen somewhat out of favor among sign shops as digital inkjet technology has become more efficient and more accessible to smaller businesses. Although most sign shops today have their own inkjet printers in-house, many choose to farm out long-run jobs to screen print houses when needed.

Growing Fast with the Roland LEF-20

Growing Fast with the Roland LEF-20

Korie and Ben Laskowski make starting a business look like, well, child’s play.  Their shop, Pretty in Polka Dots in Madisonville, Kentucky, offers custom-printed wooden products.
At first, Korie and Ben were customizing with cut vinyl they applied by hand. As their business grew, they outsourced production.  “Outsourcing worked, but it was expensive and took time,” said Ben. “We needed our own production capability.”
Ben researched their options extensively before selecting Roland’s LEF-20 benchtop UV flatbed printer. “The LEF was the logical choice,” he said.  “Its size, quality and price point are perfect for our business.”
