How to Avoid Screen Pinholes

How to Avoid Screen Pinholes

Screen printers face a variety challenges, but there is a solution for every issue; you just have to know where to look.

What adjustments should I make when installing graphics in colder weather?

What adjustments should I make when installing graphics in colder weather?

As we start to experience a fluctuation in our weather as spring arrives, it's important to understand how to take care of your graphics when the temperature drops. Pressure-sensitive vinyl is certainly not immune to the drops in temperature. Most adhesives have an application range from approximately 50° to 80°Fahrenheit. (Be sure to check product performance guides for exact installation range for specific products.) This temperature range refers not only to the ambient temperature but also to the temperature of the substrate. If the temperature is too cold, the adhesive on the graphic will not stick. The film itself may also become stiff and difficult to work with. Some films can even become brittle and will crack if they are too cold.

And perhaps those who straddle that line are the perfect illustration of what we heard repeated at the show: how can you do more with what you already have?

Acclimate Cold Material before Printing

While many of our customers print on products that may, at some point, get ice cold, such products should never be printed on when they actually ARE ice cold.
