Roland DG competition winner sees record profit margins six months on from win

Roland DG competition winner sees record profit margins six months on from win

In April 2016, Lloyd Yates attended Sign & Digital UK exhibition, as he had done every year for over a decade.
Whilst browsing the Roland DG stand, the sign maker decided to enter the ‘Scratch & Win’ competition hoping to win one of Roland DG’s newly launched TrueVIS VG Series print and cut devices. Little did Lloyd know that only a few short weeks later he would be installing a brand-new print and cut machine at his manufacturing base Berkshire.
Axiya Signs, which boasts over 35 years’ experience in the sign industry, was the lucky company that won the competition, selected at random from the hundreds of entries that visited the Roland DG stand - and opted for the TrueVIS VG-540 as the natural choice for their in-house business needs.

Wrap One or Wrap ‘em All: Vehicle Graphics Shop Specializes in Made-to-Order Success

Wrap One or Wrap ‘em All: Vehicle Graphics Shop Specializes in Made-to-Order Success

Wrap One in Anaheim, California started back in 2006 with a simple request. A client asked Alex Perez if his sign shop could put large graphics on a vehicle. Alex said yes, and soon his clients began asking if he could cover an entire car. “We knew we were on to something,” said Perez.
Now, Wrap One operates with a crew of seven in a 2,500-square-foot facility. They focus on wrapping fleets, food trucks and service vehicles, wrapping anywhere from one to 35 vehicles per project.
To handle all of their graphics printing, Perez chose Roland’s wide-format digital printing equipment for its quality and reliability – first purchasing a Roland SOLJET XC-540, and later down the line a Pro 4 XR-640 64-inch SOLJET. “Our SOLJET printer/cutters are true workhorses –they’re still going strong after all these years,” he said.

More graphics companies prioritising efficiency when switching inks

More graphics companies prioritising efficiency when switching inks

Quality Print Services (QPS) has seen an increase in sales of its most easy-to-use alternative inks, suggesting a trend of UK sign and graphics companies looking to improve workflow efficiencies in the print room. In particular, Chris Bailey, Director of QPS, says he has experienced a surge in print businesses choosing Nazdar 705 series ink, developed as a direct replacement for the HP FB 250 series inks for HP FB500/700 printer platforms. As it is a plug-and-play system, a new Nazdar 705 ink box is simply fitted directly behind an empty OEM box quickly and easily, with no requirement to flush or re-profile the RIP software and therefore no ink is wasted.

Cleaning Before You Wrap

Cleaning Before You Wrap

The durability of a vehicle wrap is only as good as the surface you're applying material to. Just like a poor paint job can cause failure so can an improperly cleaned vehicle. We get our fair share of dirty vehicles rolling in on the day of application. To be honest though, we've been a bit lax in instructing our customers on what they need to do to their vehicle before bringing their it in to be wrapped.

After seeing how much time we were spending cleaning and prepping vehicles before application we realized it was time to change our policy. We've since put together a simple hand-out, an instruction sheet for our customers so they know what we expect from them.
